Just get it drycleaned

Had eel, steak tartare, clams, pork & pistachio terrine and delicious white wine for lunch with very kind publisher. Signed copies of Annabel at Waterstones on Trafalgar Square. Had the best coffee ever at Rough Trade on Brick Lane. One of the street signs read: Hoolka Dadko Guryaha Deggan. Esther loaned me her long, slinky waistcoat and I tried to find another one just like it in a Brick Lane vintage shop but they were all about nostalgia for the new world's mass delusions. T shirts with North Dakota emblazoned on them, cowboy boots and Oklahoma trucker hats. Read at the Orange Prize finalists' reading for an audience of 900. The London tube is full of ads for Kindles and books and literacy. Walked over the Hungerford footbridge four times just to see Big Ben and St. Paul's Cathedral in morning, noon, sunset and midnight lighting. I love bridges, and the bridges over the Thames are especially beautiful, with their ghosts and their illuminations. Here's a photo I took on my laptop of Esther responding to my complaint that the waistcoat she loaned me had white spots on it. "Just get it drycleaned." She bought Emma Henderson's Grace Williams Says it Loud tonight. I'm hoping she'll lend me that too. Loved meeting the other Orange finalists. Does steak tartare always have a raw egg yolk on top? I took the plunge and chopped some of that into it all and devoured it, but it took a bit of guts.
