Alison Redford Assures the Ducks and Fish of Red Deer River

When Plains Midstream Canada's Rangeland Pipeline spilled light sour crude into Red Deer River, Alberta premier Alison Redford said , "This does not happen very often." She said, "We have pipelines that criss-cross this province that are intact and work." A film of black ooze coated grass along the shoreline and she said, "Let me be clear. Alberta has an internationally recognized pipeline system supported by a strong regulatory framework. Together they serve as a model for other jurisdictions."  She said, "We're seeing some good containment." Andrew Van Oosten tried to go fishing with his friends but officials from Alberta's Environment Department said, "No, you're not allowed." The oil company said, "Light sour crude oil has a strong petroleum odour but this odour does not pose a health or safety risk to the public." Before he went to hospital, resident Gord Johnston said, "My place is ruined." The oil kept oozing and Alison Redford said, "It is actually an exception."
