After our cafe au lait I kissed Dear One goodbye so he could go do errands and I could walk home to work an hour on my manuscript before we go out in the last kiss of summer.
Four minutes later:
Man in purple shirt, white briefcase: "Do you know that man?"
Me: "What man?"
"That man back there on the corner."
"Why do you ask?"
"Because you kissed him. Do you know him?"
"Why should I tell you that? Why do you ask?"
"Because I like your structure."
"Yes. You are well built."
"It is true that I am strong and I am not small."
"And you are energetic."
"Do you go around following women and accosting them about their structure?"
"It is you. It is your structure I like. What is your name?"
"Daniel is a good name. Do you know what it means?"
"Yes, it means an upright judge. What is yours?"
"Kathleen. It means pure of heart. And that man was my husband. Goodbye, Daniel."
