Old lady in lavish hat on Avenue Mont Royal breaks into full operatic version of La Vie En Rose, among the pigeons and hyacinths. Perhaps it was my new-old leaf-green coat that made me respond, but I thought, what else is a person supposed to do but dance! I pirouetted, she sang, and the street whirled and dissolved into springtime around us. When she was finished her song, she and I made parting bows to each other, from opposite sides of the street, but both from the same terrain...

Am reading non-stop Annabel ! This comes from a French reader and author who delights in being surprised, charmed and most of all, moved.... Annabel is unlike any book I have read in a long time.... I myself have written about a musical hermaphrodite having a strange voice but beautiful. The setting is Finland (with lots of nature & animals), almost like remote Labrador ! But is being refused !!! I have published 6 novels (strange ones) and do not despair !
Thank you Kathleen Winter for this magical book : poetry, compassion and some cruelty all intertwined....Am only half way with Wayne but could not resist in reaching you hopefully.... Will your short stories be published chez Christian Bourgois soon ?
Bravo encore !
