Annabel in London

Today was blooming fantastic - a box of Jonathan Cape's U.K. edition of my novel came in the post, so I was able to picture people in London walking around clasping copies of it under their brollies, and reading it at haddock-and-chip counters and on the trains, just like they did with George Orwell and Virginia Woolf. It's a gorgeous, sweet-williams-in-the-allotment, cardigan-and-curry sort of feeling, and it made me rush out and buy a bottle of French bubbly and drink it in front of the telly with Dear One. Apparently the Times of London has a review on the weekend, and I'm to stumble out of bed at five o'clock on Friday morning to have a chat with the BBC World Service. Cor blimey.

I love the cover of this edition! I have been singing your praises at the March Hare. Elizabeth Hay loved Annabel...
