Today, day 76 in my year of daily new actions, I finally said no to the brutality of ordinary dentists. After a lifetime of finding out about holistic healing on other levels, I searched for and found a holistic dentist. The last straw was when I looked up my normal dentist online and found that he gives workshops to other dentists on how to rip through your daily client schedule fast enough to increase your income by 30%. You know I thought he was holding onto the door frame with a strange intensity that propelled him pronto away down the hall every time I asked him anything. Were those contrails forming behind him?
A holistic dentist, I have read, will pay attention to the reasons behind the symptoms, the way my naturopath doctor does. I'm so glad I finally checked it out. Still, even making an obviously calming change in my life takes a bit of self-coaxing. It seems I'm programmed to do things in the same old way, and any kind of change feels difficult. But I've made the appointment, and I'm looking forward to learning what I can do to improve that aspect of my health, instead of being at the mercy of Dr. Getaway. I won't miss those Texas Chainsaw cleanings either.
